"Did you just use the word 'fun'?"

That was actually a question I had to ask a student last Fall, who had just made an in-class comment about how she was finding Accounting two-thirds of the way through the term (and, yes, that was her word). I hold an MBA from Columbia University, have 30 years of experience as a banker and financial advisor, and now teach courses at NYU, Westchester Community College, and other NY-area schools. What makes me especially effective as a teacher of Accounting is that I keep in mind how challenging the subject was to learn myself. I teach Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting concepts, principles, and guidelines, and make use of examples from my professional experience to illustrate their importance and relevance. I regularly teach and work with students of all ages and levels of background knowledge. As an educator I have developed ways to simplify and to explain how Accounting works, to help ensure that--just like learning to swim or ride a bicycle--with a bit of work and effort, you will end up with practical knowledge and a marketable skill which will be impossible to forget.
